Services
Our service offerings and volunteer opportunities continue to make a meaningful impact across the 43205 zip code and throughout the city of Columbus. We remain committed to providing quality programs that strengthen, uplift, and serve our community.

HOUSING
We provide transitional housing for both men and women who are moving from homelessness into stability. Our program is designed to be more than just a roof over someone’s head—it is a safe, supportive environment where individuals can begin rebuilding their lives with dignity and hope..

FOOD DISTRIBUTION
We host a monthly produce distribution in partnership with the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, ensuring that families in our community have consistent access to fresh, healthy, and nutritious food. This program is designed to meet immediate needs while also promoting long-term wellness.

URBAN FARM
Through our Kimberly Gardens Urban Farm, community members are given the unique opportunity to work, learn, and grow their own produce while cultivating both practical skills and long-term sustainability. This initiative transforms a community into a thriving hub of growth, education, and empowerment.

YOUTH SERVICES
Our youth programs are designed to inspire and prepare the next generation. From SIMBA and SIMSA clubs to a week-long summer camp and bi-monthly sessions, youth explore personal development, leadership, entrepreneurship, career pathways, internships, and college readiness, including on-campus tours.

AFTERSCHOOL &
SUMMER ENRICHMENT
To further support young learners, we operate an Afterschool Program at Fairwood Elementary and an eight-week Summer Enrichment Program that blends academics with enrichment activities, ensuring students stay on track while enjoying a safe, supportive environment.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
We believe strong families are the foundation of a thriving community, which is why we create opportunities for community members to connect, grow, and enjoy time together.
Through movie nights, game nights, and seasonal festivals, we provide fun, welcoming spaces where families can relax, build trust, and strengthen bonds. These events go beyond entertainment—they foster resilience, belonging, and lasting memories while bringing neighbors of all ages together through music, food, culture, and shared experiences.

Leadership Program
The JJDC Leadership Program is a transformative three-year initiative designed to equip emerging community leaders with the knowledge, skills, and support needed to create lasting change.
This program recognizes that the most effective leaders are those who understand the unique challenges and strengths of the neighborhoods they live in and serve.
Over the course of three years, participants engage in intensive training, mentorship, and hands-on experiences that build their capacity to lead with vision and impact.

Volunteers Needed
JJDC is calling on passionate individuals to join us as volunteers and help strengthen the heart of our community. We have a variety of opportunities where your time, talents, and commitment can make a real and lasting impact.
Whether it’s supporting youth services, mentoring in our SIMBA and SIMSA programs, assisting with family engagement events, or lending a hand at the Kimberly Gardens Urban Farm, there is a place for you to serve.
For those who prefer behind-the-scenes contributions, we also offer administrative and organizational roles that keep our programs running smoothly and effectively.
Volunteering with JJDC is more than filling a role—it’s about becoming part of a movement to restore hope, build stronger families, and revitalize communities.
